Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Introduction
Get the students to talk about their holidays in groups.
Greet the students by saying Good morning, class! Welcome back to school! Let the students greet each other. If there are new students, get them introduce themselves.
Step 2 Presentation
Say Good morning, class. Welcome back to school. Explain the meaning of Welcome back.
Teach the new words and Explain the language points:
Showing the students some pictures with People doing things happily. Explain have fun doing sth. eg. The children are having fun playing football” etc.
Call students’ names and help them answer “I’m here.” or “Here.” Then explain the phrase “call one’s names”.
Draw a crowded street (many cars, people, buses and bikes, etc) and teach the phrase “bad traffic”, draw and teach “traffic lights” “traffic signs” to help students to grasp the meaning of “traffic”.
First write the phrase “on time” on the blackboard, then give them some example sentences, let them understand the meaning eg. “He lives far from school, but he gets up very early, so he gets to school on time,” etc.
Step 3 Read and say
Say Lesson One, the first lesson, explain first.
Play the tape for the students to listen and repeat, then practise in small groups of three or four, using their own names.
Step 4 Presentation
Show students the calendar, Revise the days of the week.
Ask What is the date today? Who is on duty today?
把日历翻到9月份,teach September,再翻到9月10日这页, teach “Teachers’ Day” with a sign on Sept 10th. The teach “Women’s Day” when point to March 8th, “Children’s Day” pointing to June lst.
Step 5 Read and act
Play the tape and ask the students to answer What day is September? (Teachers’ Day)
Play the tape again for the students to listen and repeat. Explain Teachers’ Day. Happy Teacher’s Day!

Have the students practise the dialogue in pairs. Then have several pairs act out the dialogue for the class.
Step 6 Making a card
Get the students to look at the card in the book.
Get the students to answer when people send a card. (New Year, birthday, Teachers’ Day, etc.)
Explain the form of the card.
Have the students make a Teachers’ Day card for their teacher.
