一、教材内容分析

本单元的核心教学话题是“课余活动”，涉及了体育、游戏、阅读和帮助别人等四个方面，主要句型是现在进行时的一般疑问句形式。为了增强学生兴趣，让学生明白这一句型的使用场合和使用知识，要尽量为学生创设真实的情景，以增强语言交际的真实性。

本单元结合核心话题和句型还引出了一些相关的动词短语，如：read a newspaper, read a magazine, read a picture book, play chess, play cards, play with a yo-yo, play with marbles, 这为学生的进一步交际提供了比较充分的训练空间。

教学中把学生导入到既定的情景中去，既询问和猜测同学在干什么，在整个过程中，让学生观察和演示，询问和猜测，发挥学生的想象力和发展学生的交际能力。

四、设计思路

1、  从唱上一节课的歌曲入手，既缓解气氛，增加学生的积极性；又复习前一单元所学的现在进行时，为下面的内容做准备。

2、  利用实物和学生活动创设情景，将教学内容引出并镶嵌在谈话中。

3、  让学生做动作，互相问答，体验交际。

Step 1    Revision

1. Motivation

Sing the song “ What are you doing?”

2. Catch an eye: Show the pictures of activities learnt in Units 3 & 6:

Ask: What is he/she doing?   What are they doing?

3. T: What can you do? What can he/she do?

Ss: I can…    He/She can…

T: Do you like swimming/skating, etc?

复习动作类单词，为进一步学习做准备。

Step 2    A game

         T: Ask a student to come over to the teacher’s desk, ask him to make actions: sing a song without any sounds.

         What is he doing?

         Ss: Is he …?

         T: Yes, he is.     No, he’s not. He’s…

         Ss make other actions and the others guess.

       利用第六单元的游戏让学生复习旧句型，并初步接触新句型。

Step 3    Presentation

1. T: Show the Ss a newspaper and ask: What’s this? It’s a newspaper.

Ask one student to read the newspaper: What are you doing?

S: I’m reading a newspaper.

T: What is he doing?

Ss: He’s reading a newspaper.

T: Give another student a magazine to read: Is he reading a newspaper too?

Ss: No, he’s not. He’s reading a magazine.

Use the same way to teach the Ss: read a picture book

利用实物和学生的实际活动引出词汇和句型。

2. T: Show the Ss a yo-yo: What’s this in English?

Ss: It’s a yo-yo.

T: Can you play with a yo-yo?

Ss: Yes, I can.

T: Come and show us how to play with a yo-yo.

把用play with的词组放到一起进行教学，便于操练和学生掌握。

T: Show a box of chess: Look, here’s a box of chess too. Come and play here.

  Are they playing cards?

Ss: No, they aren’t. They are playing chess.

多人的活动放在一起进行教学和操练，便于学生理解。

Step 4    Practice

1. T: Show the Ss small pieces of paper with different names on one side, and actions the other side, let the Ss guess.

          Ss: Are they …?

利用游戏的形式操练句型，让学生熟悉句型，能够熟练的说。

2. T: Show the pictures of Part C.

Ss make up dialogues as above in pairs, then show the others how to talk about the pictures.

看图操练句型，使每一个学生都有说的机会。

Step 6   Presentation

1. T: Show the picture of the first half of Part A.

Are the students having classes? What are they doing?

Ss: No, they aren’t. Classes are over. They are saying goodbye to their teachers.

2. T: Play the tape and ask:: What’s Gao Shan doing?

                        Is Wang Bing in the office?

                        Where is he? Who’s is there too?

                        Are they playing basketball there?

3. Ss read after the tape, then read in pairs.

初步接触课文，做听力理解题，帮助理解，并为下一课时做准备。
